Mindfulness

ways to grown our emotional worlds!

Mindfulness is the easy way to gently let go of stress and be in the moment. It is the SLOW way of managing the Modern FAST world - without chanting mantras and finding hours of special time to meditate.

By bringing 5-10 minute practices into your day you will find freedom from stress and ultimately more peace in your life.

In mindfulness meditation, once you establish concentration, you observe the flow of inner thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations without judging them as good or bad. Pay attention. You also notice external sensations such as sounds, sights, and touch that make up your moment-to-moment experience.

The mindfulness space is intended to help people bring a greater sense of calm and health to body, mind and spirit. The space helps us to slow down, live more consciously, be more alive and present to our life experience, and the world around us. This enables a sense of peace, contentment and well being into our daily lives.

What are life skills?

Life Skills are a key protective factor for suicide and include critical thinking, stress management, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and coping skills. Activities that enhance these skills can help people as they face new challenges and deal with adversity throughout life.

What is resilience?

Resilience is a related concept that includes traits such as a positive self-concept and optimism in addition to life skills. It is sometimes described as the ability to adapt to stress and adversity.

Why is social connectedness and support important?

Supportive relationships and community connectedness can help protect our youth from the number of risk factors in their lives. You can enhance connectedness through social programs for specific population groups and through other activities that reduce isolation, promote a sense of belonging, and foster emotionally supportive relationships.

By helping people build life skills, such as critical thinking, stress management, and coping, you can prepare them to safely address challenges such as economic stress, divorce, physical illness, and aging. Resilience—the ability to cope with adversity and adapt to change — is a protective factor against suicide risk. While it has some overlap with life skills, resilience also encompasses other attributes such as optimism, positive self-concept, and the ability to remain hopeful. Skills training, mobile apps, and self-help materials are examples of ways to increase life skills and build resilience.
